Owned and farmed by renowned viticulturist and friend Ulises Valdez, Lucky Well is a rising star for those who seek Grand Cru-quality Chardonnay from the West Sonoma Coast. The name "Lucky Well" refers to Ulises' discovery of an unknown aquifer on the property that made it possible for him to plant the vineyard to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 2007. Located near the top of the Harrison Grade in the town of Occidental, its eastern exposure and sandy Goldridge soils allowed for slow, even ripening in 2015, an anomaly in what was otherwise an early harvest. This wine exhibits the lasting structure of great Chablis with a nod to California. The low-yielding Hudson clone drives pure, focused flavors with a distinctive minerality that is even more pronounced in this standout vintage for Chardonnay.
